Project Description
Rotary Club of Chitwan distributed emergency relief materials on 3rd September 2026 (18 Bhadra 2083) to flood-affected families in Bidur Municipality–9, Nuwakot, following the severe flooding caused by the Bhotekoshi River. The relief was provided to 97 families comprising 290 individuals who had taken shelter at Star Boarding School after their homes and livelihoods were affected by the disaster. The relief package included 37 types of essential materials, including food grains, utensils, tarpaulins, buckets, blankets and clothing, personal hygiene and sanitation supplies, and other necessities required for temporary living. The distribution was carried out with the support and coordination of Sita Tamang, Deputy Mayor of Megang Rural Municipality; Bijay Gurung, Chairperson of Nuwakot District Sports Committee; local volunteers Snehi Tamang and Santosh Bastakoti, and other local stakeholders.
On behalf of Rotary Club of Chitwan, the relief materials were handed over by President Rtn. Gehendra Man Shrestha, President-Elect Rtn. Rajan Piya, and Service Project Chair Rtn. Er. Guneshwar Mahato. The emergency assistance was intended to help affected families meet their immediate food, shelter, clothing, household, and sanitation needs while staying in temporary accommodation. During the program, discussions were also held on possible long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation support for flood-affected communities, with the aim of helping families recover their livelihoods and rebuild essential infrastructure. The initiative reflects Rotary Club of Chitwan’s continued commitment to supporting disaster-affected communities through both immediate relief and longer-term recovery efforts.
