Project Description

The project was conducted at Shree Jana Adarsha Secondary School, Aarukharka, Syangja to support lower-income households in the community by promoting the use of electric cooking appliances as an alternative to traditional firewood-based cooking.
The initiative aims to reduce household dependence on firewood, minimize exposure to smoke generated during cooking, and contribute to environmental protection through cleaner cooking practices.
The project was successfully implemented through the collaboration of the three Rotary clubs, namely; Rotary Club of Pokhara Newroad, Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra, India, Rotary Club of Pokhara Capital and the local government, Phedikhola Rural Municipality–4, Aarukharka, Syangja
The project was implemented as part of the annual action plan of Rtn. Vishnu Bahadur Karki, District Governor, Rotary District 3292.

101 lower income households received essential kitchen utensils worth NPR 656,500/-.
Transportation cost and food expenses were covered by travelling Rotarians personally.
Project Beneficiaries
A total of 101 households from the lower income community benefited from the project.
Each beneficiary household received, One electric stove, One cooking pan (Karahi), One pressure cooker, One griddle (Tawa)
The distribution program was conducted under the chairmanship of Rtn. Raj Kumar Gurung, President, Rotary Club of Pokhara Newroad.
The program was graced by Rtn. N.S. Saravanan, Past District Governor, Rotary District 3234 and member of Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra, as the Chief Guest. S. Saiseshan, Past President of Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra, attended as the Special Guest.
Representing Rotary District 3292, Rtn. Laxmi Thapa briefed the beneficiaries and participants on the proper use of electric stoves and highlighted their potential health and environmental benefits.
Rtn. Ramesh Baral, President of Rotary Club of Pokhara Capital, and Khyam Narayan Poudel, Ward Chairperson of Phedikhola Rural Municipality–4, expressed appreciation for the initiative and emphasized the importance of continued community-focused service projects.
Addressing the gathering, Rtn. Raj Kumar Gurung, President of Rotary Club of Pokhara Newroad, stated that the project reflected Rotary's commitment to meaningful and sustainable community service.
He highlighted that replacing traditional firewood cooking with electric stoves can help reduce exposure to household smoke and support environmental conservation. He also expressed appreciation to the partner Rotary clubs, Phedikhola Rural Municipality, beneficiaries, and all individuals involved in the project.
