Project Description
The tenth episode of the “Women in Rotary (Mahila Sanga Rotary)” radio programme, a joint initiative of the Rotary Club of Patan and Radio Sagarmatha FM 102.4, featured Ms Swastika BK, an 18-year-old student from Melung, Dolakha.
The episode highlighted her inspiring educational journey and the opportunities that enabled her to complete Grade 12 at Ullens School, one of Nepal’s well-known educational institutions. Swastika is a recipient of the PEEF (Patan Education Endowment Fund) scholarship provided by the Rotary Club of Patan. Her education at Ullens School was also supported by the Club, reflecting its continued commitment to providing educational opportunities to deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Coming from a family where her father works as a taxi driver and her mother works as a cleaner to support the household, Swastika’s achievement reflects her dedication, determination, and commitment to education. Despite her family’s financial challenges, she was able to pursue quality education through the support and opportunities she received.
The conversation focused on her educational journey, the support that helped her progress, and her determination to turn challenges into opportunities. Her story demonstrates the impact of educational scholarships and sustained support in empowering young people, particularly girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through this episode, the programme also highlighted the Rotary Club of Patan’s commitment to education and its efforts to create meaningful opportunities for deserving students.
The “Women in Rotary” programme is broadcast every Monday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM on Radio Sagarmatha FM 102.4. Through these conversations, the programme continues to share inspiring stories, promote educational opportunities, and strengthen Rotary’s public image and community engagement.
